I appreciate how this prequel reveals the depth of its characters, particularly the relationship between Mufasa and Taka. This adds complexity to the overall story and allows for greater empathy towards each character. While Mufasa is portrayed as a great leader, I found myself more drawn to Taka’s narrative, and I hope there will be another installment focusing on this character.
Visually, the film is spectacular, showcasing the advancements in technology within the film industry. The voice actors also did an excellent job of conveying the personalities and emotions of their characters.
However, the pacing was rough at times due to the back-and-forth between timelines; it took me out of the main story. Additionally, many of the jokes felt cringeworthy and annoying—I wish they had omitted the present timeline altogether 😬. Although I enjoyed the new original songs, I believe they could benefit from more lyrical depth and catchier melodies.
Overall, it’s a solid watch that fulfills its intended purpose.
