The Lyrics Lettering 00006-Written in the Scars by The Script

The Work My Lettering Design for Written in the Scars by The Script. The Inspiration The Script is my favorite band ever, they have been my favorite band since their first album. I have such fond memories of listening to their music growing up and I even attended every concert they played in my hometown. I was devastated when I heard about Mark Sheehan's passing. Their music has such a powerful impact on me, it can make me laugh, cry, break my heart, and heal my soul.

The Lyrics Lettering 00005-Life's For The Living by Passenger

The Work My Lettering Design for Life's For The Living by Passenger. The Inspiration In my opinion, Passenger is a lyrical genius because of his poetic ways of portraying life's ups and downs. And his album, All The Little Lights, is one of my favorite albums of all time. One particular song that has left a lasting impression on me is "Life’s for The Living." It is a gentle nudge to shift our focus from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, and instead embrace the here and now.

The Challenge Log 00003-Music-Thinking of Me by Olly Murs

The Work My Lettering design for Thinking of Me by Olly Murs The Inspiration This song, "Thinking of Me" by Olly Murs, seems like your typical pop tune at first listen. But, if you pay attention, there are some pretty profound lyrics in there about not dwelling on what's gone but cherishing the good times instead. It's a reminder that not every love story lasts forever. Some ended too late, some too soon.

The Log 00001-My first 12 Days of Lettering Sketches

I have been daily lettering ever since April 19, which marks the beginning of my journey into the lettering world. These are the daily sketches from April 19, the day I started lettering, to April 30. Each day presented its own challenges and triumphs, pushing me to think outside the box and experiment with different styles and concepts in lettering. From logo design to inspirational quotes, each piece has its own story to tell.

The Challenge Log 00003-Music-Angel With a Shotgun by The Cab

The Work The Inspiration  Angel with a Shotgun by The Cab holds a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favorite songs. Its infectious energy and emotion have always resonated with me on a deep level. The contrast between holding a shotgun and spreading the angel wings added a dramatic effect in the very best way. It symbolized the fierce determination and protective instinct one might feel for a loved one.

The Challenge Log 00002-Music-Sober As a Drunk by Kameron Marlowe

The Work The Inspiration  The inspiration for this lettering comes from Kameron Marlowe's song "Sober as a Drunk." I came across the song randomly a few years back, and was captivated by its expressive lyrics and analogies. The clever wordplay of "I'm as sober as drunk, I'm as high as rock bottom", capturing the essence of a person in denial so perfectly. The music is great too, flowing flawlessly and making it a fun song to sing.

The Showcase 00001-Music-Oh, What a Life by American Authors

The WorkMy Lettering Design for the song "Oh, What a Life" by American Authors The Inspiration "Oh, What a Life" by American Authors is hands down one of my favorite songs ever. In fact, the whole album, also named "Oh, What a Life", is my favorite of all time. It's the type of album where every track flows so nicely, that you never even think about skipping a song.

Welcome to Lettering with Ning.

Hey there, welcome to Lettering with Ning! I've been into typography and lettering since I was a kid. I even made my own crappy fonts when I was like 12!! Back then, typography design wasn't a big thing in Thailand, until, ฟอนต์.คอม (f0nt.com) was founded. Then, there was a surge of enthusiastic people. I was on the first wave of it all because I couldn't stand the boring typefaces on my computer!

2024-04-19: Lettering Day

⭐ One line for 2024-04-01: I spent the whole day doing lettering while feeling sick, and to end the day, I listened to Taylor Swift's new album "Tortured Poet Department." I planned to make a wall art for my room using a line from Taylor Swift's song "Innocent." The lyric goes, "Today is never too late to be brand new," and I love it. I thought it would be nice to have that reminder every day, so that's the quote I went with.

How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, 2024 - ★★★★½

New Personal Logos

I've been wanting to create a logo using my name "NING" for a long time. Finally, I've made five different variations! I'm not entirely sure which one should be the main logo, but I'm leaning toward the smiley or the chat bubble. If you have any feedback or comments, please let me know. (I'm also working on perfecting my personal color scheme, but it will be something similar to what I've shared.

Refreshing My Online Identity: Arc’s “Browse For Me” Is Not So Smart After All

The main reason I recently updated my online profiles and started sharing more about my life is to prevent Arc Browser's "Browse for Me" from generating a summary using my name as the CEO of a company I created for a student project 🙄 I uploaded the slides online, and Arc kept bringing it up repeatedly. They don’t even care about my social media information and go straight to a made-up presentation!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, 2024 - ★★★½

Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire is a total blast if you're into giant monster showdowns. The story itself made no sense at all, but it's still entertaining as hell. Although, for a moment, I felt like I was watching Planet of the Apes. They should have made a crossover with Caesar at this point, lol.

Set Up Another Blog

After careful consideration, I have decided to create a new blog--Life of Ning Magazine--focusing solely on my personal life. The intention is to keep it semi-public, hence I will not include RSS feeds like my other blogs, nor will I cross-post to my main site, which already has RSS set up. However, I will feature it on the Scribbles Explore page to crowd it out, so people would check the page more often lol.

The Iron Claw, 2023 - ★★★★

“The Iron Claw” was a truly heart-wrenching story. They fought tooth and claw, desperate for even a mere of recognition that should already have been granted to them from the start. The pain they endured would have been unbearable for anyone. The final scene hit so hard, especially with the song of “Live That Way Forever” playing in the end.

Love Lies Bleeding, 2024 - ★★★★

Love Lies Bleeding is like an imaginary dream of a queer love story. And I'm all for it! This movie has everything - from family drama, romance, comedy, crime, violence, thriller, horror, and muscles! The intense atmosphere filled with manic energy contrasted perfectly with the humor, and I absolutely loved it! Additionally, everyone looked incredibly sexy and cool in this film. What’s not to love, am I right? P.S. This movie inspired me to hit the gym and lift more weights from now on lol.

May December, 2023 - ★★★★

Have you ever wondered if we’re just a cocoon, believing we can already fly? This question struck me after watching “May December.” The emotional and sensitive subjects addressed in the film, coupled with the powerful performances of the cast, evoked a discomfort that made it hard not to look away. People don’t like to talk about uncomfortable matters, so they often try to brush them off to feel better about themselves.

American Fiction, 2023 - ★★★★

I have to say, this satire was on point and felt incredibly “raw” and “important”. LOL On a more serious note, I found the cinematography to be somewhat lackluster and I felt like it dragged down the emotional impact of some key scenes. Additionally, I feel that the screenplay could have used a bit more punch to really drive home its message.

Being a Bilingual Is Like Having a Double Identity

When people think about being bilingual, they often assume it involves simply translating between two languages. Nope. Being bilingual is about adopting a new mode of communication, adding a whole new dimension to the relationship between yourself and the world. Each language embodies unique natures and cultures, allowing you to consume diverse content and understand the world in a different light. Through this, you craft a new persona for yourself.

It's Okay to Not Write

Sometimes you don’t have anything to write, and your mind falls into silence. There's nothing to rant about, nothing to evaluate, nothing to think. Rather than putting words on paper, you want to listen to the sounds of your surroundings. Instead of trying to understand yourself, you want to get absorbed into the environment. There's no need to come up with anything; you simply remain in the present moment. In a world where people create a constant sandstorm of noise as the norm, solitude feels like an oasis.

Dune: Part Two, 2024 - ★★★★

As a huge fan of the director, the cast, and the Dune Series, it pains me to give this movie a low rating. (I was so ready to give it a 10.) Unfortunately, this movie did not meet my expectations for excellence in storytelling. It seemed to prioritize plot over explanations and character depth, which left me feeling disconnected from the characters and their struggles. I believe this movie would benefit from more telling than showing, as what was shown felt overused and clichéd.

An Extra Day

Today is February 29th, also known as leap day, it's natural to ponder what we would do with this extra day gifted to us every four years. The concept of a leap day brings forth questions of how we value time and how we choose to spend it. What would you do with your extra day? Would you toss it aside and waste the extra time you have? Would you try to squeeze out these times to achieve more?
